Sir/Madam,
I would like to send a message of thanks for your group of volunteers for making the walk on Sunday 21st March so enjoyable & easy. I am disabled & had anxiety about coming on the walk in my electric scooter, but through the efforts made by Rodney Tregale & his colleague (sorry for not remembering his name) my fears were dispelled rapidly; I could hear the words of Jones in my ears ‘Don’t panic’ ha! ha!
To make the tour even more enjoyable, we were blessed with absolutely fantastic weather, & I feel that the entire group had a wonderful experience discovering the sites of some of the filming of such a memorable series. I felt that I was very secure & safe at all times with my ‘guardian angel’ (who’s name I can’t remember - apologies) making sure that I was always kept safe whilst crossing roads, even taking the time & trouble to ensure that I was made clear where crossing points with dropped kerbs etc were well in advance, all of which sounds simple, but for me it was such a relief, taking all of my worries away, allowing me to enjoy the tour to the full. The tour managed to maintain quite a steady pace, & Rod made sure that everybody was present before he began to speak thereby ensuring that we all had a full experience, well done.
Even when the group returned to the museum, a female volunteer (again I’m sorry for not knowing your names) made me feel at ease & made sure that my scooter was safe inside the building whilst we enjoyed a short film & walk through the items on display. Being volunteers, I am fully aware that you give up your time without seeking thanks; your sole reason is to attempt to spread the word of the museum for the good of others to enjoy.
I hope that in some small way you will accept my thanks & praise in the hope that the word goes out to as many people as possible. I shall also be writing to Disability Now (magazine) & anywhere else that I can find to attempt to ‘do my bit’, & try to make it known how welcome you make everybody feel.
I shall stop ‘rambling’ on now & leave you in peace hoping that the museum continues to grow & prosper as much as possible – WELL DONE TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN YOUR GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS.
Yours
Tim Wellings

An unusal entry in the guest book !

On arriving at thetford we found the tourist information for a leaflet on the dads army trail. This was a special visit for us as my special needs son is such a fan we booked this break specially for him. I knew the museum was closed but was so excited when the kind gentleman (sorry did not take name) said he would open the museum specially for us. My son is still talking about it now and I would like to say the museum is wonderful and exciting and really made our holiday. Thank you so much for your kindness and we will certainly be back. Thanks from the Tanner family

Later we travelled to Thetford to the Dad`s Army Museum..it was bloomin' marvellous. After the usual struggle to park in Thetford we eventually scrambled into a tiny, free car park near the market place , when we stepped out of the car we could see the museum, about fifty metres away. I think I'd vote this place as the friendliest museum I've ever visited. We were shown around, helped out, and given information by every single volunteer guide in the place, excellent. The museum is a shrine of DA memorabilia, although probably not aimed at, or ideal for, five year old fans. I, however, will be returning for a complete visit on my own when circumstances permit. We were even snapped by one of the guides as we sat at The Original Captain Mainwaring Desk. Ten out of ten.
